Key Dates for JK 2.0

To be ready for this change, there are a number of key dates to be aware of and tasks you can do to be ready!


  • Now: Notify employees about the reduced JobKeeper payment they can expect to receive ($1,200 or $750 if you are still eligible or NIL if no longer eligible)

  • 28 September 2020: Start paying eligible employees Tier 1 ($1,200 and Tier 2 ($750) JobKeeper rates based on their hours worked

  • From 28 September: If using Single touch Payroll, to notify the ATO of eligible employees, you must provide each eligible employee’s tier as part of their normal payroll reporting

Those enrolling for the JobKeeper payment for the first time can do so from 28 September

  • Between 1 – 14 October 2020: Complete your October JobKeeper monthly business declaration to receive reimbursement for the September fortnights FN12 and FN13

  • Between 1- 31 October 2020: Prepare and submit your business’s actual decline in turnover to the ATO

  • Before 31 October 2020: Ensure you meet the wage condition for all eligible employees included in the JobKeeper scheme, for the JobKeeper fortnights starting 28 September 2020 (FN14) and 12 October 2020 (FN15)

  • Between 1 - 14 November 2020: Complete your monthly business declaration and confirm the payment tier you are claiming for each eligible employee

Other important dates to note are the extension of the NSW government Retail and Other Commercial Leases (COVID-19) Regulation to 31 December 2020. The relief was originally set to expire on 25 October 2020.
