While most business owners are chasing new clients, did you ever stop to consider that increased sales may be captured more easily by simply showering your existing clients with a top notch product or service?
Not only could this lead to more work with the same client, but a happy client may also refer you on to others. An expanding client base is what all business owners are typically seeking.
However, we must remember to strike the right balance by also taking the time to provide a great product and/or service to the existing customers that we worked so hard to acquire.
Below are some tips for ensuring customer satisfaction:
- Don't assume you know what your client wants. Why don't you ask them? It sounds simple but many people don't take the time to understand what their client’s needs are.
- Don’t under promise or over deliver. If you set expectations at the beginning of the relationship that can't be met, the result is a disappointed customer who may think twice about returning to your business. There is also the likelihood that they may share this disappointment with another potential customer.
- Ask for feedback. There is no better way of understanding how well your business is meeting expectations than to speak to the customer. Surveys are a useful tool for obtaining customer feedback.
- Deal with complaints quickly and courteously. Show them that their business is important to you and that you are taking their complaint seriously.
- Don't forget about them after their initial purchase. Call them to see if they have any questions about the product or service provided.
- Host a client appreciation event or send a gift. By treating your clients well and giving back to them, you are expressing your gratitude for their patronage.
